Before we came
Dar El Ahram is one of the largest legal publishing houses in Egypt, with hundreds of titles written by hundreds of authors. Before the project, the catalogue lived in the branches and in the heads of the sales team: a lawyer who needed a book on a specific point of law had to call, describe what he was looking for and wait for someone to check.
Orders came in by phone and WhatsApp and were followed on paper, payment was cash only, and nothing about the catalogue could be found on Google, so readers outside Cairo and outside Egypt had no easy way to buy.
The house needed a real online bookshop, but one that understands legal books: a reader rarely knows the exact title, he knows his case.
- Catalogue known only by the branches and the sales team
- Orders taken by phone and WhatsApp and tracked on paper
- Cash payment only
- No book or author pages on Google
- Hard to sell to readers outside Cairo and abroad
- Readers had to know the exact title to ask for it
